Default shortcut keys

Please Login to Remove!

This is probably a very simpleton question, but im not a programmer...just a user.

Is there anyway to add shortcut keys without an application having to be open and running? For example, is there any way to make "T" be for composing an SMS instead of it being for tasks. Or "C" being for compose mail, instead of what it is already.

Is there a way to change those without an app purchase that'll run in the background to do it? And even if I do have to go the app way, which one is the best for that? Bc I know of the ones like QuickLaunch, but im not looking for menus to pop up to launch stuff quicker. I downloaded HotKey Manager, but even that you have to hit "P" to start it, then it shows the home screen of your shortcuts. Too many steps.

Any answers?

Thanks!
