To those of you who support the Blackberry devices on the IT side of the house, I'm curious what your standards/practices are....

For Blackberry devices, have you standardized on a primary carrier (and therefore a primary BB device or 2), with a secondary carrier for users who don't have adequate coverage from the primary carrier? Or even a 3rd vendor if the other 2 don't work?

And how do you handle it when the new 'toys' come out from other carriers (like the 8700c, which looks VERY COOL) and the employee ranks start pressuring you for them?

Our primary/preferred vendor is Nextel, but for areas where the coverage isn't so great, we go with Verizon Wireless (who I hate dealing with), and our executives have Cingularr BB's (for worldwide service...and I hate dealing with them, too).

Across the company we use many carriers depending on coverage. We basically let the division choose which one they want based on what they feel works best for them. T-Mobile is preferred simply because of cost, but their coverage is not great.

We use a lot of Nextels here since one person gets it and they all want it. I think overall GSM phones are easier to work with, less failure prone.

We have 2 or 3 Verizon users here, one is in the middle of nowhere and can't get a signal except for Verizon. Another is a VP that came from another division.

We currently use T-Mobile 7290, NEXTEL 7520, and Verizon 7250 for new requests. Exisiting devices include: 7100t, 7230, 7290, 7510, 7730.

Our company is new to the BB world so right now we have the Nextel 7510 and 7520. 7520 is issued as new users come on board or replacements are needed. I know the new 7100I is being looked at (hope they will try out a few more than the 1 they are looking at). No other carriers at this time.

TMO 7290, Nextel 7520, Earthlink 7250/950/957. Coverage is primary factor followed by features then price.

I'm fotunate enough to work for a college that has no policies when it comes to BBs or carriers (ha ha ha)! Mainly we use Cingular (7280/7290) and Nextel (7520). The choice is usually about pricing...

I think companies over here in the UK are slow to the BlackBerry concept. I Work in the head office for a large insurance company and I've never seen another BlackBerry here, not even a personal one. I fail to see why more companies haven't cottoned on to the idea, they're a fantastic phone. Plus we've always been ahead of you yanks in terms of mobile/cellular technology, so how does that Work?! ;)

Maybe you guys hate Canada more than we do.

In the US, Blackberries are finally starting to make their way to the independent insurance agencies. We write for 40 or so carriers, and only one or two of our marketing reps have Blackberries.
