Default Restore Voicemail Speed Dial Button

Please Login to Remove!

I moved the Voicemail from speed dial button 1 to number 9 on a 7100g on a BES. I made Speed Dial 1 my home. For reasons not important to the issue, I had to use Desktop Manager to Remove All Applications and then reinstall the system. When I did this, my BB automatically began the Enterprise Activation process (I use a BES through Mailstreet). I did not even have to supply a username and PW. It just happened. I am unsure why.

When the activation completed, the BB was basically restored, although a few changes I had made about a week ago were not restored (I assume because it had not backed up since then). My guess is that the BES keeps a periodic backup of my BB settings. Can anyone confirm this and tell me how often it occurs?

Anyway, my voicemail speed dial button never came back. Speed Dial Button 1 remained my home number, as I had set it, but speed dial 9 was empty. I could not figure out how to place voicemail into button 9. I figured a work around, which was to add an entry to my address book called Voicemail and set that for Speed Dial 9, but that is not the same as the default Voicemail entry which the BB "knows," presumably from the SIM.

Does anyone know how to restore the default Speed Dial 1 setting to Voicemail so I can then move it again.
Thanks.

Set a [Use Once] number as your speed dial 9 that is your own phone number. Then when you dial that speed dial, it will call your voice mail and say "Voicemail" as the name.

Default Same problem here

I had the same thing happen to me on my 8700. I'm not sure when it occurred, but all of a sudden it didn't recognize #1 as my voice mail speed dial. This originally automatically happened when I entered my voice mail number. Could it have anything to do with upgrading my handheld code?

I have the problem with my 7520 after upgrading to 4.1. I have not found a way to fix this. I keep getting "Invalid Phone Number" displayed when I press and hold "1"". Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Try deleting any speed dial related to that key, and then do a hard reboot, battery out and see if it comes back. As I recall on my 7100 it did not, but it did on my 8700.

I opened my speeddial list. Nothing was listed under W (1), so I just removed the battery and held the power button for 30 seconds, performing a reset. That didn't fix it. Then, I went back to the speed dial list, which still showed nothing there, clicked on it, and selected delete. I then did the same battery out reset.

THE VOICEMAIL SPEED DIAL WORKS NOW!

Thanks for the advice.

Having the same problem on my 7130E. Rebooting doesn't seem to help.

OK, I added the number back in for voicemail as part of the speed dial list but one problem. I have the Options menu under phone, Voicemail option set to automatically dial my password. When I added the voice mail back to the speed dial it does not auto dial the password.

Any suggestions would be apreciated...

Just fixed this on my 8700g by deleting the speeddial entry for "w", even though it was blank. Then doing a hard reset... Now the voicemail entry is restored and my other speeddial entries were unharmed.

Default Works on the 8100

I had the same problem on my T-Mobile 8100. Tried the 8700 solution and it worked like a charm on the 8100. Love this forum.
