Default playbook time display

Please Login to Remove!

My playbook (pb) display time is off by 5 hours. I am not in my home time zone. I am one hour ahead at present. The time on the set up menu drop down is correct for my home zone. My bb is not picking up the network time which can happen when I travel. I turned off the blue tooth on my bb as the time was not being picked up that way. I have searched the internet and forums and not found a way to set the time as a manual method or over ride things on the pb. Any ideas?

Open the clock app, open the clock, and change the time zone setting.

EDIT: Or, open PlayBook settings, select Date & Time, and change the time zone there.

Thanks but did not change things. i have 10.27 on the settings and 9.52 on the screen display. i turned it off and on and it matched for a few seconds then froze. The settings time is accurate. The rest of the bb works great.
The clock "home clock" is right and matches the settings one.

Ok. Let's start over, and FYI I'm feeling my way here as I haven't had this trouble.

Maybe you've already done this, but let's do it again. Obtain either a wifi connection or bridge to your BlackBerry, or both. On the Date & Time setup screen, set the time zone to the local time zone where you are at now. Set 'Set Date and Time Automatically' to On. Now restart the PlayBook.

What happens?

Thanks
Did it. I am in my home time zone now. bb says 18:38. pb settings 18:38. Display says 6:04pm. When I rest at 5:12pm the times matched.

Explain a little more. What I understand you to be saying is that the time shown on the Date & Time settings screen does not match the time shown on the home screen. Is that what you are saying?

Also, you are saying you then manually set the time on the Date & Time screen so that the display time is correct, but the set time (on the Date & Time settings screen) still is different from time display (on the home screen). Is that what you are saying?

yes correct.
The home screen time is not matching the settings. I called tech support and they do not know the link from the home screen to the settings clocks. They said the pb syncs time every 4 hours but they do not know how the time is controlled. That being if no bb bluetooth connection or wifi what does it do then. What is throwing confusion is it is not a time zone jump (i.e. 1 hour), and it slipped 30 minutes while connected to my bb in my home time zone. This means it is dangerous to rely on the pb alarm clock for accuracy. They are leaving a ticket open as the manually setting the time and then turning it back to auto set should correct it but the 4 hour sampling is confusing.

Has me stumped.

If it were me, I would force an OS update. Do a search for details if you don't know how. The gist of the process is run Desktop Manager on a PC and connect the PlayBook. Restart the PlayBook and when Desktop Manager loses connection it will prompt you. Of course if you are running the latest OS then Desktop Manager will wipe and reinstall your current version OS. As it will delete everything on the PlayBook, back it up first.

See what others say, but if a restart didn't fix it, that's what I would do.

Thanks, I was thinking of reinstalling the os. I will wait and see what happens this week as I need to go to Europe and jump time zones there over several days. Your help is much appreciated.

Post an update when you get the chance.

And by the way, does the clock app match the display, or does it match the Date & Time setup screen?

As I type: date and time Settings: 10:04pm. Clock App 10:04pm. Home screen display: 8:28pm
Connected through bridge to BB which shows 10:04pm.

I will reinstall the OS tomorrow unless new ideas pop out.
stay tuned.

I figured it would, but I don't understand it.

EDIT: There is a clue here: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/...te/m-p/1029157. So, apparently the time displayed on the home screen is not simply a reflection of what is shown on the settings screen. Something in the software got boogered.
