Gang,

I want to put a bunch of ebooks on my shiny new Playbook but cannot find an app for reading them. I know the Kobo reader is pre-installed and it works fine for what it does (which is connect to their store and read their books). I know this since I also have a physical Kobo reader and the Playbook Kobo reader synced my Kobo account perfectly and downloaded all my ebooks perfectly.

The issue is that I have purchased ebooks from other sources and I do see a way for the Kobo reader to load them.

I searched Appworld for another generic eBook reader but came up empty.

Any suggestions?

I cannot believe that something so fundamental in a tablet would be missing.

I contacted Amazon customer support to remind them of their promise to have a kindle reader available. The support person in India or wherever said they forwarded the issue to the "right" person. Maybe if enough people contact them (or whichever reader company you favor), we'll get a reader sooner... Almost seems like some companies are taking a wait-and-see approach with the Playbook...

I use AVS converter to convert ebooks to .cbz and use the comics app from the App world and it works great. The App even opens to the last page you were on.

Have you tried calling Kobo support? IIRC they support loading books from other sources on their hardware reader.

This seems like an interesting workaround for now; but I do not see where AVS Converter converts .cbz file in their support - can you elaborate?
