Default Contact manager software

Does RIM offer any kind of contact manager similar to Palm? I don't use Outlook and find that the Palm is pretty easy to use. I am new to BB and couldn't find any threads on this topic. I want to sync easily too and it seems that this is easier said than done.

Nope.

RIM has chosen not to recreate the wheel and develop yet another PIM application when Outlook is available and serves the need very adequately -- the fact that so many people use it already. It provides for a very smooth sync process. Palm having such doesn't seem to have served them very well.

I think the worst part of Palm software was trying to get the stuff FROM the palm software LOL.

You can sync between Outlook, Outlook Express, Yahoo contacts.

outlook express is free.

But OE is no longer included in Windows. It was replaced by Windows Live in Vista. I think Windows 7 has another version of Windows Live.

Neither work very well with the BB however, but there are workarounds.

Very true, I'm not sure what the majority of people are running these days..

I'm still running XP on my desktop, and a laptop with Vista, haven't played around with Windows 7 yet other then at some Microsoft events or in the stores.

Outlook really is your best bet.

Outlook sync was very easy when I used it (currently on BES).
