Default OS 7.1 Rollout with Wi-Fi hotspot support

According to the BlackBerry blog RIM will be starting to roll out OS 7.1 to all carriers world wide. The new OS includes support for Wi-Fi hotspotting.

Yes. I would expect most carriers to treat it like tethering, which could be expensive, or not available at all.

I have 7.1 and the hotspot feature on my 9850 from Sprint ($30 charge).

It's not any faster than connecting the BB to the laptop via USB and tethering that way.... but not having to use a cord is a bit more convenient.

How many devices can connect via the Hotspot? I know some devices allow up to 5 or 8 connections.

For Sprint it's 5 devices in the US and 1 outside the US.

Good info, that beats the wired tether then if you would use it to justify the $30 a month.
