Default How Does The 9700 Browser Compare To Safari?

Please Login to Remove!

I've read here that the new 9700's browser is superior over all other Blackberry models. However, how does it compare to the Safari (iPhone) browser? Does it compete at all with the Safari browser?

It's still probably no good for porn if that's what you're concerned about,

That's the only thing holding me from going back to BB. The BB browser does the job, but the Safari browser blows it out of the water. Heck, I browsed the internet a lot on a tiny Pearl for 2 1/2 years, so maybe I can jump back to BB with ease???

Wirelessly posted (overwhelmingly stressed)

Haven't experienced the BB browser on a 9700. I suspect it won't be greatly improved over previous browsers.
The iPhone browser at this point is the best mobile browser out there
But I still prefer the BB by far

My iPod Touch 32GB is used for that purpose. You never want to use any Blackberry device for skin flicks because you certainly don't want to nut on the keypad.

I don't know how it compares to the iPhone's Safari browser, but I would guess that regardless of how it compares, it will still help you pick up chicks at the clubs on the weekends.

The iPhone web browser is amazing, I truly think thats the biggest down fault for BB.

Blackberry's bowser is inferior to the iPhone's and Android's. Even the most "pro" BB's out there admit to it:
"The new BlackBerry app platform leaves out much of the installed base; it only works on BlackBerry models introduced after the fall of 2006. RIM (RIMM) stumbled with its first touchscreen BlackBerry, the Storm. And its app store, and the apps themselves in many cases, are clumsier and less polished than the iPhonexxx8217;s. Most of all, the BlackBerry desperately needs a major user-interface overhaul. Email addicts who know lots of shortcuts love the UI, but itxxx8217;s very dated for a world where the device must do more than email. There are way too many clicks, steps and menus, and the browser is still weak. RIM has just hired a new user interface guru who worked at Apple and Microsoft, so it apparently gets this problem." ~ Walt Mossberg

RIM also bought Torch Mobile so they can focus on revamping their browser into a Webkit based browser, same as on the iPhone. So RIM also gets that their browser is terrible.

The sooner the best. I assume that once RIM rolls out a new browser, it will be a software update?

Yeah, the new browser will probably be available in an OS update I would imagine.

Sweet, I can suck it up for a little while. I sure will miss the Safari browser though. BB>Iphone>BB. I will be back tomorrow with a 9700!

The new browser in the 9700 is a slight improvement from my Curve 8320. But it's still miles away from the apples and the googles.

Let's wait for the new Webkit based browser... hopefully it'll be more useable.
