Question Best Way to Transfer Data to New Curve

Please Login to Remove!

My old AT&T curve bit the dust after using it for over 1 year.

However, I had just backed up my data from the old 8300 about 1 week ago. Can I just do a complete restore to the new 8310? Will it cause any problems or is there a better way?

You can do a restore, however if you had 3rd party software on the old device, it will not be copied over to the new device.

Hi..

Try the "Switch Device Wizard" in 4.5 or 4.6 DM. Works very well....

Thanks. I figured that my 3rd party stuff wouldn't come over, but I wanted to make sure that it wouldn't gunk up the new Curve.

Do I do a general restore or Advanced and Pick and choose the items? I'm really not sure what some of the Advanced items are.

I had that same theory, and in a sense the files dont clog up the phone, the OS generally does...I am finicky about what I transfer over, so I do an advanced transfer and pick and choose whatever I want to transfer over...

How do I simply transfer my contacts from on Blackberry CUrve to another Curve. I recently bought a second Curve and want to transfer my information from one to another. Is there any easy way to do this??

I switched to an 8310 and did NOT perform a restore. After reinstalling my 3rd party stuff, I did perform a "sync" with DM. I found that certain settings (like my icon order, alarms in My Alarms and maybe a couple of other things) did infact get restored.

If you have Outlook, you can sync one Curve to Outlook and then connect the other Curve and pull the contacts from Outlook to that one.

Hi Kevinx23...

(ok ok - I am turning into a broken record - Ack! )
Use the "Switch Device Wizard" in DM 4.5 or 4.6 - works great....

Actually Kevin- contact only is easy. Just do a backup and then attach your new phone and go to the Desktop Manager / Backup / Advanced and you can bring over your address book in the backup you created.

Yup - Mckinneycm you are right - paper weights don't count - With "Switch Device Wizard" ya gotta have a running old BB.... So, some of the other comments regarding using Outlook as a conduit - Works!...

Can you all realize that soon, many of us are going to be moving to a newer phones with all the new hardware coming out - Wow - I can't wait for the Javelin, Bold etc, etc...
