Default SMS delivery receipt

Please Login to Remove!

I used to have a T-Mobile 8700 and was able to send my text message and receive a "d" for when it was delivered. i.e. delivered confirmation.
I am now using an AT&T 8300 Curve and noticed that in the settings, delivery confirmation yes/no is no longer an option.
Is this carrier or device specific? Anyone know how I can get it to show delivered again?

I don't know if it's device specific, or OS specific; but (and I hate to disagree with other posters) I don't think it's carrier specific.

I've been with my [same] carrier for probably 8 - 10 years and have gone through a dozen phones. On my last phone (Nokia E62) which I used until May 2007, I could turn on or off SMS delivery reciepts, and on my BB, I can't.

Oh, unless BBJ, by carrier specific, you'd meant it part of the carrier's branding of the phone; if that's the case, then I wouldn't know one way or another.

It's carrier specific,
Even with older models (7230, 7290, 8700), Cingular / AT&T (8300), in the SMS options you can't enable delivery notifications, with some other carriers (on the same phones / OS), the option is possible, and you get the check mark when sms is delivered to the other carrier / device (doesn't mean it's read, or - according to carriers - mean that it's delivered to the receiving phone; they say it means that the 'other side' has received the SMS),
Bear in mind that those delivery notifications cost as much as the text itself, so for instance, if you are sending a text to an international # (from the US), 50 cents, + 50 cents for the delivery notification,
Hope to be of help, take care

We had this discussion about a year ago and I believe we came to the conclusion that it is carrier specific.

So does anyone have SMS delivery receipts using AT&T chip. I understand from the older post that Cingular did not work, but AT&T should. With the merger now complete, I received a new AT&T chip (with the 3G logo) but delivery receipts is no longer an option under the settings.

I JUST activated a new Curve on AT&T and I don't have the option to get delivery confirmation for SMS. I miss that, coming from my T-Mo Pearl. Especially now that I come here and read about people's SMS not going through.

Default SMS Delivery Receipt - Blackberry

There has been some discussion about this being Carrier Specific. It's not that easy.

I have an older 7100v (Vodafone) and am using it on the Rogers network. I once did a full backup of my phone using the desktop manager software, then I erased the phone, and only restored those applications and data items that I wanted specifically.

At that time, the phone lost the ability to track SMS delivery receipts. That is, it USED to work, but something got "lost" when I reloaded the phone bit by bit.

Curious, I then erased the phone (wipe handheld option) and reloaded that backup I had taken earlier. Presto; the SMS feature worked the way it used to. However - there is nothing that I can see in any of the databases in the backup which specifically says "Enable SMS receipts".

SO: It's NOT carrier specific. It's buried deep in there somewhere in the phone settings but someone more enterprising than me needs to tell us where it is and how to flip that bit.

OK - I spent a little time with a PEARL 8100 - I tried moving my 7100v databases one at a time to the Pearl and did not get the SMS feature to work.

However - when I did a FULL restore to the Pearl (from my old 7100v) the SMS feature started to work as needed (that is, I could get the little "D" and checkmark when the target got the SMS message).

So - SOMEWHERE in the backup file is a bit to flip. Can anyone find it and reply back with a patch/edit?
