When the BB is connected to the Mac is should not be in mass storage mode. That's the first thing to check. Also, make sure there is no USB hub you are connecting through. Doesn't sound like you're using one, but it's a common stumbling block.
When you open PocketMac on your Mac you should see a window with icons across the top for .Mac, Blackberry, and possibly Entourage (if that's what you're syncing to). Just below that is a row of clickable categories for syncing: Status, Contacts, Calendar, etc. At the far right is Connection. Under Connection make sure you have USB checked and not Serial Port. Below that is a dialogue box for your Blackberry's password if you have one set. Check the box for "My Blackberry handheld requires a password for use" and enter the password, if you have it set on the BB.
I just synced my Bold to my PowerMac (Mac OSX 10.5.5) through PocketMac to Entourage 2004 and it went through beautifully.

Exactly what ive done. I am using entourage, but there is no icon in the main menu(not a problem, since it doesnt even read the BBDevice). The other things are exactly how they are, except im not aware of the mass stoarge mode. I will check with the settings soon. I had a password but i removed it just to try
I read of another option, called Missing Sync. I rather pay to get this working asap. Thank you for your quick response!

RIM better get their sh** together with Apple. I shouldn't have to hold off buying a new laptop because my BB will not sync. The iPhone is starting to look tempting.

No Luck from pocketmac
DO NOT Follow these instructions: they do not work to resolve the new macbook problem
Please upgrade to version 4.1.25.
Can you please trash the following files:
2 files starting with "BlackBerry" located in /System/Library/Extensions
PocketMacSyncManager folder located at /Library/Application Support AND/OR at your Home folder/Library/Application Support
PocketMac folder located at /Library/Application Support AND/OR your Home folder/Library/Application Support
The following frameworks located at /Library/Frameworks AND/OR at your Home folder/Library/Frameworks:
DotMacKit.framework
EWSMac.framework
eSellerate
libical.framework
MindFortress.framework
NotesLib.framework
Pantomime.framework
PMPluginsFramework.framework
PMPluginsFramework4.framework
PMPluginsFramework68kAligned.framework
SyncManagerCommon.framework
SyncManagerMedia.framework
Any preferences containing "PocketMac" in your Home folder/Library/Preferences.
Please upgrade to version 4.1:
On the BlackBerry, you should open Settings, Options, Advanced Options, Media Card, and choose “On” for everything, and then Yes for Auto Enable mass storage device instead of Prompt.
Please shutdown the Mac and restart the BlackBerry by taking out the battery for 30 seconds. Turn on the Mac.
Please plug directly into your Mac, not the keyboard. Please connect with a powered USB hub if possible, or charge the device first.
1. Open 'PocketMac SyncManager'.
2. Plug in BlackBerry via USB.
3. Press 'Sync'.

I have an original Macbook Pro and Have had probs with entourage 2008. and I tried Missingsync adn that was just a mess with loads of ical issues, dupes etc.
Thinking of going back to Entourage 2004 with the hope it might sync beautifully as Rambo47 said his was. fingers crossed... only issue now it downgrading Entourage from 2008 to 2004

entourage 2008 contacts
is there any solution to syncing entourage 2008 contacts between macbook, system 10.5.7, and blackberry curve. the calendar and other items are ok but at the end of the session i keep getting the following message:
[08:47:11.944] An unexpected error has occurred: Bad device record set. Check that the OID values are unique across records.
i keep sending this to pocket mac, but they have yet to answer (what's up w/that??)
any advice??

possible solution
If all else fails try, look at the connection indicator on the blackberry afrter you connect it to your computer, if it connects for a sec then turns off, it's the connection, try holding it at a slight angle or get another usb. Good Luck, it worked for me.
