Worst mobile working experience?When I took a vacation on an island in Costa Rica and was negotiating a big contract. The local mobile network was not very advanced, and I could not use e-mail on my BlackBerry. So the office sent me the document in little chunks via SMS texting. It wasn't fun trying to read it.

UMTS = 3G
HSDPA = 3.5G
HSUPA/HSPA = 3.75G
HSPA+ = 3.9G
LTE = 4G

So yes, there is, in fact, a 3.5G. It increases with each release of the UMTS standard (which will be redefined with Release 8, or LTE).

so who and where right now is there 3.5G? or if there isnt who and where is it close to be rolled out?

3.5G, or HSDPA, is available in the United States (AT&T, soon T-Mobile), Canada (Rogers), Europe (most carriers), Japan (NTT DoCoMo), Korea (KTF), etc. 3.75G, or HSUPA/HSPA, is available in the United States (AT&T), Europe (Vodafone, Movistar, T-Mobile in some areas, etc), Korea (KTF), etc.

HSPA+ is currently in design phase and should likely start rolling out in the next couple years. Expect early adoption from Korea, with Europe to follow. The main improvement of HSPA+ over HSPA is faster speeds in downstream and upstream. I don't expect AT&T to offer this technology anytime soon, as they are still b*tching about offering HSDPA and it's slower Gen1 speeds.

Just wanted to add that Rogers Wireless (Canada) also has HSDPA/HSUPA (3.75G) for 7.2Mbps peak (but you won't get those speeds); many ppl top out around 3700+Mpbs download using aircards or TyTN II tethered.

This is GREAT news! Wonder what the new BB with 3.5G will offer us?! Tethering would be awesome and no need for corporations to continue rolling out aircards (if a working 3.5G BB is on hand).
