I just wanted to say that after upgrading to BlackBerry OS 4.1, Opera Mini 4 actually works on these older BlackBerry models - 7250 and 7290. Also works on 71XX series too. This one impressive web browser is pretty slow on these older BlackBerry models, so turn off the "Visual Effects" setting to speed things up a little. Also set font size to "Small" to fix maximum amount of text on one screenful, and enable the "Full Screen" setting. So you have more text in one screenful than in BlackBerry Browser. And to speed up things a little more, you can turn off image loading. Makes some websites work much better than BlackBerry Browser.

Just wanted to give you a heads up, if you need a better web browser for the old BlackBerry (as long as it supports OS 4.1). OS 4.1 compatible BlackBerry models in the 7XXX models include 7100, 7105, 7130, 7250, 7520, and 7290.

To instal Opera Mini, enter "www.operamini.com" in BlackBerry Browser to wirelessly download it (less than 200 kilobytes). After you install, don't forget to reconfigure Opera Mini settings to following optimal settings:
- Font "Size" set to "Small" (unless this font is too small for you)
- "Visual Effects" turned off (old BlackBerry models are too slow for this)
- "Full Screen" turned on
- "Images" either set to "Off" or "Low Quality"

Use the 5 key to zoom in/out and 2/4/6/8 keys for fast scrolling, if you find the scrollwheel too slow.

Is there a special way to get a 7290 work with opera or just need to set it up like described?

It even does not get a connection and opera aborts. The APN is configured correctly, I'm sure about it cause on my 7130 it works.

The 7290 runs with 4.1 and the 7130 with 4.2.

Maybe I forgot anything, but what?

Tried it with opera 3, dosn't work too... unable to get a connection.

Well, want to use the 7290 as second device but without BB-services. Is that possible.

I got it working on my 2750, works great.. It took a while to run the initial tests however..

I got it, too!

I don't know what the real matter was because BlackBerry OS 4.1 was installed. I only reinstall with the OS-version from T-Mobile US and there it is - it works!
