I have both but I have to return one of them in a few days, not really long enough to really learn to live with them. I've had the Duo for a few weeks, but I'm only going to play around with the Pearl for a day. Windows Mobile 6.1 vs. Blackberry OS 4.5. The Duo has 3G, Pearl has Edge and wi-fi. The Duo has pull e-mail the Pearl has quasi-push through BIS. Battery life on the Duo sucks (probably 3G and all that e-mail polling). Duo has a full QWERTY keypad.

Has anyone who has used both and can give me the pros and cons?

Pantch duo is one of the most returned phones at ATT.

It seems to have a high failure rate with the lcd and the earpiece.

8120 is full on push not quasi

8120 is a superior device better call quality in my experience certainly better battery life

Unfortunately my work e-mail does not have BES (or MS Exchange Server) so it's not instant push for WM or BB. I have some Gmail accounts too. With BIS at least I get somewhat of a push experience. I use IMAP exclusively and I've gathered that BIS does not support full IMAP feature set like sub folder sync.

3G is huge. Compared to Edge it's like DSL compared to dial up modem. If only Pearl had 3G I might not be having this dilemma. But 3G's high bandwidth sucks battery life.

Pantech duo sucks.

I went and talk to the guy at ATT and he said that pantech duo is the number one phone that gets returned.

It's not a good phone to use if you're a business person. Pantech gets mess up easy.


Blackberry 8120 is the bomb. Get it, never regret, and your life is happy forever and ever.
