Ok, it's a little(very least) confusing at best. i've talked with two BES admins who have this update. I've talked to a couple more who don't. I posted a topic like this last night and since then, 2 more admins have it. So I figured it had been released. It seems as though this update is internal to Verizon, and has just made it's way to select admins. I'm also trying to contact a few others to get a hold on the situation. As soon as I do, I will let you know. Again I apologize for any confusion.

I'm not saying it like they "selected" them. I meant more like leaked to, is what it's looking like. But the weird thing is, only BES admins have it, outside of Verizon & RIM employees. I tried to confirm this on my own, but can't reach anyone due to the holidays. And I had 4 admins telling me they got it from verizon.

I have a question about the picture in your article. Is that a picture of a device that is BES activated using the DM? When I connect my device to my DM (and I am BES activated) it is different. Specifically, the differences are at the bottom of the images where the PIN would be. I have attached an image of what it looks like for me when connected to DM as a BES user.

I'm just so confused about how this is being distributed via BES. I'm the primary contact on our T-Support account, and haven't heard anything from RIM.

Edit: I just got off the phone with T-Support, and the rep didn't have a clue what I was talking about - and he wasn't just playing stupid. He told me that he's not able to share info, but since it was important enough for me to call @ 9PM on Saturday to find out, he said "If an updated OS will make you happy, I'd bet you'll be happy before you leave work on Tuesday".

As with anything else you read 'round here, take this with a grain of salt.

Edit 2: Doing some digging around the BES and RIM's KB, and I now understand how to configure eveything to deploy OS updates wirelessly from the BES. The big catch here, is that the OS package actually has to be installed on the BES and you point the Software Configuration policy at the directory where the OS update has been installed so it can be distributed. This means that the OS update has to be distributed to the BES admins in some manner. How? And is Tx2 support not enough to be kept in the loop on something that is supposedly already been released.

I have found a bit more information as well by lurking in other forums that I am not a member of. Anyway, the picture in the article that this thread is about seems to have been given to the author by Don Nguyen. Apparently, he was given the release by someone he knows at VZW who has signed a NDA. See this link:

Just Updated to 4.7.0.75 - Page 18 - BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com

This would explain why his DM picture is different than mine. He is a BIS user not a BES user. His DM screen is a BIS DM screen. From the link I posted above, he was given the file, loaded it on his PC, and upgraded the software using DM.

Default BES Policy

Just wanted to comment on this. BES Admins don't get "provided with OS updates" .. at least I don't (TX2 - 3000+ BB) I download them right off the carrier sites like everyone else to index them. The main benefit:

- helps when pushing software configurations to devices
- for device upgrades via web desktop manager.

I think starting with BES 4.1.5 there is a policy called: Wireless software upgrades policy group.

Basically this just allows (or not) your users from getting OS updates from the carrier.

The other settings are around if users can request the upgrade and how the data is downloaded (WAN,WiFi etc) likely to help with cost for those not on unlimited data plans.

Don't have to be a BES user. Update works for BIS accounts too.

The link was taken down. My guess is that this will do nothing for BIS users, who should wait for the real Verizon OS update that will hopefully speed the thing up like we want.

4.5.0.75 was "leaked" yesterday. It's out there for anyone willing to do a quick search.

Doubtful that 4.7.0.75 will be what VZ officially releases this week. As of now VZ hasn't released anything so this whole thread is wrong from the title on down.
