I have a pearl and the contact on the MB under the trackball is not working when I depress the ball I hear the click but nothing else. I have replaced the ball and while the ball was out I have played with the contact and then it works for a day or so. My question is I have another Pearl that cant be activated becasue of the prior customer that had the phone (owes money) so can I use the motherboard in that one in mine or is the ESN # programmed on a chip somewhere on the motherboard
Thanks
Rick

BSN, ESN, PIN, IMEI, MEID...Whatever the serial numbers are, they are hard coded into the device firmware, and they all tie together using a proprietary algorithm. So if you have a pearl that has been blacklisted due to delinquency, meaning the ESN is blocked from the network, you will not be able to use that board.

Well you heard wrong obviously. By switching out mainboards, you would inherit the PIN, ESN, BSN...from that board. If that ESN is blocked by the nework you are attempting to run on, you will be left with a brick.
