Default OS: 9900 7.0.0.1672/7.0.0.353 (All Languages)

BlackBerry® Bold™ 9900 smartphone
BlackBerry Handheld Software v7.0.0.1672 (Asia or All Languages)

Package Version: 7.0.0.1672
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 7.0.0.353
  • Software Platform: 5.0.0.544
  • File name: 9900jAsia_PBr7.0.0_rel1672_PL5.0.0.544_A7.0.0.353_ SK_Telecom.exe
  • File size: 198.68MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

There are two language version files available, All Languages and Asia. Asia contains English as well.

Download the OS file here: https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/D...EA57487BF8ED26

Instructions for installing on the 9900:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process may take up to 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

Since T-Mobile engineering (not some guy in a kiosk) told me it won't be available until November, I'm not counting on it.

Battery life same as previous releases. No UMA as of yet and not likely we'll see it soon either. Many issues have been resolved, but there are still a plethora of bugs to be fixed...

I have a few 9900's and through every release of f/w, I have not noticed any differences in battery life. Not what my 97xx's are, but that's the trade-off for this device.

I downloaded this, removed vendor.xml and ran loader. Says there is nothing to load on my device. I see the new bundle in Add/Remove programs....but won't load.

Loader only gives me options to remove App World, Messenger and 2 other things. Nothing about the device software. :(

This OS will not work on the 8900. It's for the 9900 only.

After unpacking the downloaded file almost all the files are dated 26/05/11 16.34. Does that make sense?

How are you unpacking the files and where are you looking.

The 7.0.0.353 files are dated 08/19/2011
