Default Playbook backups

Is there a software to read Playbook backups? Does Blackberry Desktop Manager save emails, contacts, notes, tasks to a Playbook backup file?

Many thanks in advance.

The Playbook does not have native e-mail yet, as far as I know, your backup file would only contain information found on your PB. App info, data (docs, pics, etc...) and setting information. Are you talking about Bridge information?

Ditto to the above. When desktop manager backs up the PlayBook it only backs up what data and settings on the PlayBook. There are no native email and PIM apps. And by design no bridged data from the BlackBerry smartphone is stored on the PlayBook.

On the first question, I'm not aware of any app to read PlayBook backup files. Not to say there isn't one. Google is your friend on that one.

Please make sure that you use a copy of your Playbook backup file

You can also change the .bbb(Please make a copy first) (Playbook backup extension) to a .zip file and see what's in there.

In the Archive folder (Remember, use a copy of your backup file) you will see a settings.tar file that may be explored.

Why? In other words, no bridged data will be in a backup file?

Why? Security.

Data on your BlackBerry smartphone will be backed up when you backup the smartphone.

Data on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet will be backed up when you backup the tablet.

Thank you for your help. Do you know what kind of data is placed in a Playbook backup?

I noticed that not all data on the device. For example, contacts are not included. Is there a list of items that are included in a Playbook backup?

Contacts are on the BlackBerry. NOT on the Playbook.
Did you read this thread carefully about what data is stored on the Playbook?

Look at your PlayBook and see what's on it.
Or go to BlackBerry.com and look at the specs.
Are you a developer? Why are you asking?

Yeah, not sure what OP wants.

The documentation indicates that a full backup will backup all device data and settings on the PlayBook.

As already covered, this doesn't include bridged data. That is not stored on the PlayBook. It also doesn't include apps, obviously. It may not include some downloaded content, such as podcasts, that can be downloaded again from subscription, but I don't know.

Perhaps you should contact RIM as they would know...

I think people are rightly suggesting your motives. There have been far too many cases (particularly with people who have a model 7100T and Carrier "Carrier") of people trying to steal data and break into other people's BlackBerrys. So people tend to be cautious here.

If you are asking because you are curious, then contact RIM and ask for the backup file contents.

You would like to know or you need to know? There is a difference.
Do what NJBlackberry said - contact RIM.
