I'm having a strange problem. I have a new BES 4.1.2 server, freshly installed with a new, valid SRP number. I tested the SRP and it checks out OK. I also checked the connection to the SRP server and it's fine too. I also have a second BES server that's running fine.
This new server, the SRP connection is bouncing. Every 10 seconds or so, in the event log I get [SRP] Dispatcher\SRP Connection dropped, Error=0 then about 5 - 10 seconds later I get [SRP] Dispatcher\SRP Connection established. Then the connection immediately drops again.
This happens on my server once a day, usually at a random hour. It has only happened since I installed 4.1 so I think it's always happened but only got included in the logging on 4.1. I spent ages trying to find out what was causing it and resigned to the fact that maybe once a day your SRP verifies something with the NOC, or perhaps the result of some other network resource. For a while I was convinced it happened at the same time my network was running backups but I think I was desparate for an excuse by that point!!!
If it's happening every few seconds though I would be a bit more concerned. Could well be network connectivity between your BES and firewall. Just because the SRP connection has dropped doesn't mean that you've lost connection at RIM's end, it could be down to someone unplugging a network cable from the BES and it going "Oh, I've dropped my SRP connection". If it were me I'd be checking the integrity of the network connectivity of the BES and see if you can find any holes.
Thanks for the reply. I ended up contacting BB Support and they issued me a temp SRP to test with. The new SRP is working so I guess it was a problem on their end with the old SRP.
No, each server has its own SRP. Although the problem started up again. The server is running on a new Temp SRP that BB Support gave me and it ran fine for a few hours and then started bouncing again.
I've turned on verbose logging on the dispatcher and router, maybe I'll see something in there.
