This is the #1 forum for BlackBerry users. It just may be that no one knows the answer to your question.

I am using a 4 gb SDHC card in my blackberry pearl just fine. However, I have read that the pearl cannot do the 6 or 8 gb SDHC cards.

I don't think anyone has wanted to fork out the money for a 6gb or 8gb card to test it, and then just be disappointed...

There are a few people on this site that have tried 6 gb cards but have gotten hit and miss results. Some worked like a charm while others had to return the and get 4 gb cards. As for the the firmware que, you need the .107 OS the one you have is .96 not .196. Get the latest OS at the top of the 8100 page.

That's cool, guys, but where could I get this 108 from? I'm stil sitting on 107 and dreaming to upgrade with the latest one. T-Mobile is still sleeping on 107. Do you have a direct link to this firmware?

I just noticed. You write your model as 8100c, what does this 'c' really means? Cracked? Or it's some kind of a build number?

Default 4 GB SDHC card

A 4 GB SDHC card will work with firmware 4.2.196. I have the same firmware and currently use this card. No problems at all!

Thanks for this info! I guess it should be 4.2.1.96, not 4.2.196, right? Where did you get this firmware from? Could you post a link to the file(s) to download and at least to compare or maybe even to install?

P.S. Just looked at my own device - About: v4.2.1.107 (Platform 2.3.0.83). I think it's much newer than all others available. but it still doesn't work with 6 GB cards. T-Mobile support recommended to wait until a new version of the firmware is tested and published.

Here is a good list of available firmware versions:
