Default How to turn of e-mail when going on Holiday?

Please Login to Remove!

I am living in the Uk and will be going to France for three weeks 22/07/10. Is it at all possible to disable receiving e-mail as my service provider has quoted a ridiculas price. However i would like to be able to reactivate on my return to the Uk. Is there a simple way?

Depending on your OS, you can disable it at the firewall. Click on Options -> Security Options -> Firewall. Can block SMS, MMS, PIN, BIS email, and BES Email. Can also make exception to allow it for certain people.

log in to BIS account
click edit on email account/s
uncheck "forward to handheld"
Recheck when back in the UK.

Just be aware that any messages received while this is unchecked will NEVER be sent to the handheld.

Its that thing you setup your email on, so they were pushed to your device.

BIS = BlackBerry Internet Service. That's your data plan.

A more direct way to address the outrageous data roaming costs is to shut off data roaming. Settings>Mobile Network set "While Roaming" to Off or Prompt. That way, you can use WiFi in France to get your mail, when available, and you will automatically get all your mail when you return home. Caveat, you'll probably want to turn data roaming back on when you get home. Your carrier probably uses local roaming agreements to provide full coverage in your home area.

OTOH, given that you've already left for vacation, my advice is probably not very useful to you.

I would go with WonkotheSane's solution.
