I just thought there seemed to be a pattern of the relatively newer (< 5 years old) hotmail accounts not working too well on our BBs...

I found I can set notifications in HOtmail that a contact emailed me but they don't have a "forward" mechanism. I actually contacted Microsoft to complain and suggest they add this.

Gmail has a "forward" option but you have to set it up like a filter- for examples you can have only certain contacts forwarded, or forward emails with certain subject lines

I also complained to Microsoft that I cannot access my Hotmail with the BB webbrowser- it always faults out and won't get to the mail! Google GMail can be accessed via your BB browser

but if someone is actually internet-accessing their hotmail I'd like to know how

Some of you seem to be able to- BUT- is this access to Hotmail you are using coming through your blackberry data service as part of the web browser feature OR are you paying MINUTES on your phone to get your mail? just curious

I can access it through the Opera Mini browser with no problem. The BB browser works when it wants to.

Wirelessly posted (7290: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

By that you mean what? I tried adding it through BIS and it's still a no go.

Not through the browser, nor through Opera. My emails (Gmail+Hotmail) come into my messages 'folder'.

ahh that's why- you are using TMobile-- I have Nextel/Sprint.

thanks-

I was able to access hotmail via my Opera browser and by downgrading my Hotmail to a standard account from the previous "Live" version.

Not sure if Hotmail is supposed to work for Nextel/Sprint phones right now, but I'm on TMo, and I just registered my Hotmail account through my BB (through the "Set up Internet Email" option), and not through the TMo website.

I had or have for the moment a nextel 7100i and the hotmail worked great with it...although it was a little slow and i just got a TMO Pearl and i set mine up as stated above with the "Set up internet email" and it works fine.

Default Works for me!

I switched to the Windows live beta version of Hotmail. Then on your phone browser, go to MSN Mobile and you should be able to log in. If you get a blank screen don't freak out, just "refresh" the screen and you should be able to view your Hotmail. This was one of my biggest pet peeves about having a Pearl and I'm glad I can now check my Hotmail. Sweet!

It says I sucessfully set up both my MSN accounts, still waiting for the first set of emails to come through. Glad to see it let me set it up, been waiting a long time for this to work on a Blackberry.

Default question

i did set everything up fine with hotmail, but the actual icon that one gets once an internet webmail is set (the one with envelope and the globe) does not appear for hotmail, obviously it does for gmail, yahoo, blackberry ect., instead i have to go to messages and access my emails, and compose them there? is that a normal trait for newly acquired hotmail access or is the icon hidden somewhere i dont know about....thanks for the help guys.
