Default Building a mobile website for BB, best browser?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I want to build a mobile website, similar to BB Help site look.
Do you know what browser should I use, if I want to actually view on my computer how it will look into a Blackberry device? I have a lot of experience with PHP, MySQL and regular website design, but I'm new to mobile design.

Your advice is welcome, thanks.

you can download blackberry simulators from BlackBerry
you need the simulator you want to test on and the MDS package on the bottom of the linked page. The MDS has to be run to give your simulator network access.

Thanks Simon. I downloaded the following files:
BlackBerry_Simulators_4.2.2.123_8830-Bell.exe
BlackBerry_Email_MDS_4.1.2.17.exe

Will those apps allow me to emulate the Blackberry browser?
I do not want to actually develop an application for BB. All I want is to see how a website link will look into it.

Thanks.

Edit: that did the trick, I can access the browser.
However, I'm not sure if the network is present. I started first MDS, then the simulator. Is this the right way? Currently, I cannot access any website through the simulator.

should be correct. the MDS will run in a dos-box, you could check the output, maybe there is something else running on the designated port, i think it trys to take 8080 by default. this is determined by the file rimpublic.property in the config directory of the MDS which you can edit with a text editor.
