Default Deactivating Enterprise Activations

Please Login to Remove!

Hello Everyone,

Based on past threads, I believe the best way to deactivate enterprise activation is to 'wipe handheld'. I want to know if I do that, how do I restore my contacts.
My contacts are the only piece of information I care about on the device. I have a Blackberry 9700 activated on BES.

Thanks,

Do a backup with Desktop Manager before wiping. You can then restore from that backup once it's done. You don't even need to sync with Outlook to do this.

Moved to a more appropriate section.

Are you no longer on BES? If so you will need to remove the IT Policy as well. There is aFAQ article that covers that.

If you are still connected to the BES, you might not be able to use DM to make the backup. You probably should check with your BES Admin first.

As a BES Admin, I can tell you that you will not be able to restore the wireless sync items to your device after you've wiped it. Contacts, Calendar, etc will be greyed out.

My suggestion is to either have your BES Admin stop the PIM sync on your device - that might work. If you still have access to Outlook, export your contacts to a PST file, or other compatible format.

Last suggestion: Use Google Sync to sync your calendar and contacts.

As others have mentioned, you will need to fully wipe your device; removing the IT policy can be done easily with the BBSAK utility.

Hope this helps.

This is not true. You can backup the data fine even if it is activated on the BES. You cannot restore certain databases when the device is activated on the BES. As you said, they're grayed out.

There's a way around that as well. Delete the Desktop [SYNC] service book. Then all the items will be available. Once you restore, then undelete the service book or resend it from the server.

If the device has been wiped, there shouldn't be any issue restoring the data.
