try plugging in your pearl first, then opening the application.

Did you install the software completely and restart your mac before connecting your blackberry the first time??

I had the same issue and had to delete and reinstall the software, rebooted, connected the bb and then opened the software and it worked fine.

Also make sure you have the very latest version of Pocketmac.

When you enter names into AIM or another message deal it goes to your address book. Check your address book in OSX for people's screen names not matched up to the address book entry you want.

Default Pocket Mac compatable with 8100?

Since there isn't a "compatable" version on the pocketmac site for the 8100, you're using the current version and it works ok?

This would be great because I really need to get this thing synced up with my Mac.

You can download a compatible version of PocketMac 4 that will work with your pearl from Blackberry.com

Thanks! You guys made my day! I just switched over to the 8100 after having a Blackberry for work years ago (the size finally got small enough). I'm learning a lot quickly and loving this thing.

Thanks again,
David

Default PocketMac with the 7130c

Has anyone tried it with this new device? It is the same vintage as the new 8700c, only it has predictive typing in place of the Qwerty keyboard (which I found too labor intensive), so I assumed it would work.

First attempt wiped everything off my BB and locked it up. I had to remove the battery to kick start it. It then reinitialized it, right back to the welcome email.

Next step was trying to one-way sync my Mac address book to the BB, at least to rectify some of the damage.

It copied the address book data for 211 out of my 1100 contacts, with no real pattern - some had home, work, or no email addresses/phone numbers, and it copied a smattering of each. But no duplicates - even though I set the BB to allow duplicates at least to see what would happen.

Thank god I use the Mac and Yahoo as the source.

Oh yes, another thing it does is hang forever saying 'checking for mounted Blackberry media cards' even though its only the Pearl that has removeable media. The PocketMac issues column mentions this but in relation to the Pearl - there is no 'External Media' menu on previous models. So you have to kill the Sync at this point, which could explain why not all the addresses are being transferred.

I am stumped. Any clues? appreciate your help.

Does anyone use PocketMac to sync their BB Pearl on Mac OSX 10.3.9 or 10.4.8 on power pc Mac's?

Does it work? I want to buy a Pearl and sync it with Entourager... one lot in the office and another set at home.... using the Pearly as the go between (and on the road between...) but worry about the sync issues I have read elsewhere.

PocketMac works for me with my MacBook Pro, PowerBook G4 and iMac G5. I only sync contacts and calendars.
