Just wondering about opinions about the best software development environment for the playbook. Are there any open source options available? TIA!

RIM is pushing Adobe AIR as the main dev environment but probably best to check out the newly available SDK for details.

I'm going to try the AIR Development. I think it would also help make the application available on PC and Android, which would be a plus for a developer. In theory, you could make the application work on all three with little or no changes.
