Default Blackberry Media Sync doesn't work!

Please Login to Remove!

hi,
when i connect my blackberry storm to my desktop, and open the blackberry desktop manager, i go into "media" folder and click the "blackberry media sync" so i can manage my itunes on my storm. Immediately i get a message that says "blackberry media sync installation failed to initialize. Please run the blackberry desktop manager with administrative privilages and try again."
any advice?
thanks in advance

I am having the same issue. First of all sometimes my Desktop Manager recognizes my device and sometimes it doesn't. When it does located my device (connected) and I try to load Device Manager it doesn't recognize my device at all. Needless to say it has become very frustrating.

My wife uses a seperate computer and she doesn't have the disconnect issues but she can't use Device Manager because it gives her the administrative privledges message as well.

If your running Vista here is what you do...

Right click on the DM icon on your desktop.

Select Run as Administrator.
Click Media sync and ut will tell you it's not installed and direct you to install it.

Install and your good to go.

I just have some questions on media sync. And figured I'd post them here rather than create another thread.

1. How can I add just new songs and not have to sync the whole thing? (like for an Ipod.) someone suggested making a playlist of just new songs and syncing it. But that just erased the existing songs and added only the new ones. So any other ideas?

2. The volume fluctuates when listening to music. Is there any way to fix this or correct the issue?

3. Also. Is there a way to disable the volume level warning from coming up everytime you open up the music?

And help people can give would be awesome! Thanks.

I had the same issues with BB Media Sync & Vista...

If you click "Run as Administrator" it does not connect with the Storm. As was suggested above, I downloaded and installed BB Media Sync from Blackberry.com, rather than from Desktop manager or CD, and it worked like a charm....

give it a shot and it should work for you.

I had the same problem with BB Storm / Windows XP Pro. But your fixed worked for me as well. Anyone know if there is a way to always make Desktop Manager run in this mode?

Options > Memory > make sure Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) and Mass Storage Mode Support are both enabled. Also make sure Auto enable mass storage mode when connected is set to Yes. Also make Media Card Support On.
