Now that I have been running this for a while I get an occasional

Uncaught exception
java.lang.ClassCastException

when downloading ringtones or notifiers from the RIM site, and it reboots my browser.

Use the Optus Software pkg 4.2.1.126 I believe it fixes the ringtone stuff. I know that when I first updated my 8700r to use the 4.2.1.66 software I would get the same error message, ever since I've updated to the newer software i don't get that error message.

Default 8703e-Verizon

Anyone know wher I can get 4.2 for the 8703e for Verizon? Are there any problems with the 8703e/verizon and the new OS?

Thank you in advance...

4.2.1 has not been released on any CDMA carrier yet. It will probably be a while before one does.

I just got the same circle/square/triangle on startup with 507 below the icon... How did you get it to reboot/reinstall. Now DM is not able to find the device and can't re-install upgrade!

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/179)

Is anyone getting the LDE blinking red after a BB IM session??? The only solution I've found was taking the battery out and reset the device. Anyone else got this?????

Yes, I am getting that on my new 8700g. with 4.1 OS. My old 8700g suffered the circle/square/triangle with 507 error.

In the end I rolled back to the 4.1 version again!! I'll wait for T-Mobile to provide their version of this update. It appears that several components are missing for the 8700g or some issues with the T-Mobile firmware.

Never the less I could be mistaken! Any one else got issues with a 8700g with T-Mobile service???

In the Optus build of 4.2, I can't seem to find "organize application" for Vondafone Today. Has it been hidden somewhere that I just can't seem to find or has the plug been pulled on it?

Just like every theme go to the icon view and alt+click on an icon. You'll see the move option there.

Ya, there is that I guess but I like the old organize application where everything was brought up in a list.

Hmmmm, I let mine sit for a couple hours and it remained in that error 507 screen... Finally I re-installed the DM 4.2 SP1 and rebooted my PC. Finally the PC recognized the 8700g and proceeded with the upgrade.

Still hesitant to upgrade my new 8700g so will play around with the old upgraded one for a while. Which themes are you using on your 4.2?

CDMA will always be last because they represent the smallest percentage of users, as well as the least valuable customers. GSM users are more likely to be high-spending global travellers.

Hardly. The fact is simply that the vast majority of cellular networks are GSM based.

If anyone has any insight on how to fix this, I would be very appreciative. Thanks.
I have same problem here w/Korean Font & Language support.
4.1 had and in 4.2 its not there.
Let me know if anyone has resolution to this issue.
thanks

Wirelessly posted (8700g 2007-04-07: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Can anyone tell me how to copy something from one place to a text box like the ones in the reply box on this page.
I have been using 4.2 from the first few days of this thread. I have seen only a few changes that i don't like so much. 1. I can only use themes for 8700. On my 7100 i could use themes for 7100 and some for 72xx.
2. the other is that cut/copy paste problem. But that may be just the 8700 and not the 4.2 OS

I really really really like this OS it works great for me.

1. Yup, only 8700 themes are gonna work, and only theme builder themes will have a hope of success aside from the 4.2.1 vendor themes
2. It's a 4.2.1 issue
