What do you really use your Curve 8330 for?

I couldn’t be more pleased with my new 8330. I tossed out my Razor phone, (well…put it in a box in the basement); I retired my iPAQ 4700 (Still here on my desk; I’m looking at it now), and now my life hinges on a single device, the 8330.

So what do I use the 8330 for, you might be asking…..

Primary:

1) It reads to me on the way to and from work. Audible plays fine though the controls could use some work. Currently I’m listening to the Mitch Rapp series of CIA stories; “Pillars of the Earth” is next.

2) It’s my phone and, phone book.

3) It’s the liaison between the calendar on the home desktop and the calendar on my work desktop. I sync both directions which the BB seems to do well. And…the calendar function is good enough on the BB for me to rely on it as well for planning appointments during free time.

4) Lets me keep up with email on the home desktop and soon, on the work PC.


Secondary

5) Tells me the weather in case I missed the news as I brush my teeth every morning
6) Helps me find locations and if necessary directs me to them via VZ Nav.
7) Lets me browse the web when I need to look up something between desktops.
8) Entertains me.
9) Lets me take pics and video then share them, and other pics, with friends and coworkers.

So what am I missing that is within the capabilities of the 8330 and would enhance my life?

You just about got it. I also use mine as a boom box when I take a shower by using some old PC powered speakers and cover the phone with a towel. I keep a handle on my finances with a little checkbook register program. And play Tetris while sitting on the can now (when I'm not emailing to make the best use of the time sitting in one place).

Whew! I thought I was the only one.

It pretty much runs my life, I do everything I can with it. Coming from the 7100i, I can't believe I stayed with that one for so long and did so little.

Email, Text, MMS, Web (limitedly), calendar, contacts, checkbook register, notes, grocery lists, blogging, etc etc etc.

I also carry an N95-3 which handles much more of my mobile web browsing and camera functions. Between the two, I'm about as connected as I can be without carrying something more robust like a UMPC.

Browse the web - typing this on my bb.

Portable newspaper - RSS is one thing I didn't consider when going bb, but it's really something I use a lot.

Every day phone / contact manager.

Email client. This is something I used to sell myself on getting a bb, but the reality is I just don't email much.

My favorite time-killing activity on my 8330 is to use Google Reader to catch up on any blogs I've got RSS subscriptions to (but never seem to have the time to read when I'm sitting at a computer) - it's the best way to make any grocery store line or commuting delay go by faster!

How do you get it to read to you, I would love that feature, is it possible with the 8310?
