I will be upgrading to the Bold Touch soon but had a concern regarding the Desktop Manager version which will work with that particular unit. The current unit that I'm on now is an 8330 using Desktop Manager version 4.7. In that version of DM, I can go into the Advanced mode under Backup and clear out the old "Recipient Cache"; which seems to build over time with unneeded old email addresses.

So the question is this:

1) What version(s) of Desktop Manager will work with the Bold 9900/9930? Can I still use version 4.7 of DM or will it not recognize the phone?

2) Will the latest version of DM also include an Advanced menu selection for clearing unneeded database items/cache or was this removed?

Just trying to think ahead before getting this unit.

So the device has been out for a few days (via online sales). Does anyone know yet which version of DM is compatible with this phone? Has anyone tried using an old version like v.4.x?

DM 6.1.0.35 (Bundle 34)is the correct version, should recognize your new unit, but will have to download additional components.

Included in this bundle are;

So in answer to my own original question, version 6.x of DM does allow you to delete specific info such as 'Recipient Cache'. There's no Advanced tab anymore under Backup/Restore like in version 4.x. It seems to be the drop down for Device and then delete data which lets you manually pick which items to delete/clear.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you don't "WIPE" the bold 9900 doesn't the on-board storage have the desktop manager exe/msi file to install the up to date version of desktop manager??

Since the Bold 99xx does NOT ship (at least the Rogers version) with Desktop Manager this would work. I believe the 9780 also did this as well with the on-board 2GB MicroSD card.
