Default Any new AIM clients show up?

Anything new out there? I've tried them all...Verichat, Ramble, IM+, Webmessenger, Causerie...and there's one thing that bugs me.

Almost none of the clients are capable of checking away messages. Verichat is the only one that does. Ramble's "get user info" never ever works. I'd also like to be able to know if someone is idle (which Ramble does, but doesn't allow checking of away messages). So what I really need is a working Ramble, or a Verichat that can sense when a user is idle. I currently find myself now switching between the two to figure out both things...but its quite annoying.

Alright, I guess I'll update this myself. Someone suggested to me Yak On! through a PM, and having tried it, I gotta say it has the cleanest and most intuitive interface of any of the IM clients I've tried. It also seems to be very stable on my 8700g, on T-Mobile EDGE (I've been on for over an hour without any problems).

However, my feature request still isn't possible, so I emailed Yak On! support, and here's what they told me. Currently Yak On! and most other clients rely on the TOC2 interface to access AIM. This doesn't have the functionality to retrieve away messages and profiles. There is however a second interface, Oscar, which Softcentral plans to use in their next version of their client...which is due to be released sometime next month. This is great news for us all! Lets hope they keep battery usage at reasonable levels.

What corey said.

If you're accustomed to having tabbed AIM/MSN windows, you'll love this.

Someone have Mark put this in the FAQ up top.

Default possible solution

if you follow the guide in this forum for configuring googletalk for multiple networks you can see how long someone has been idle and you also are able to view their away message without sending them a message.
