Wow...So here is the scoop. I had a bb pearl 8100 and some how I was able to create an auto signature with my text messages. All it was "~". Fine great- but now I switched to a new bb Bold 9700 and I cannot stop my text messages from displaying the -~ at then end of each message and it's making me crazy. Everywhere I read it says that you cannot have an auto signature- you have to edit your auto text so when you type "sig" it populates it for you. Oh BUT NOT FOR ME so why do I? Why can't I get rid of it? Help me someone please- oh you gods and goddesses of Blackberry's????????????? I am such a nerd that I am loosing sleep over this.....I know I know. Is it some how saved to my SMS chip- that is the only thing I can think of. Boo Boo for me.

I tried to register on the blackberry site but it will not let me. I guess I should call my carrier tomorrow? Thank you for the suggestion though.

You change it on your Carriers (Rogers) BIS site.

First off: SMS text messages do not get the automated signature which is created on the BIS login site xxx8212; that is for email signatures.

Secondly: If you type "sig" on your BlackBerry, that autotext is auto-populated by the information you have entered in your Owner screen, at Options > Owner.

Thirdly, look at your AutoText (options > Autotext) and see if you have any entry that causes a tilde "~" to be entered.

Thank you all for the advice but unfortunately none of these have solved my issue. There is nothing in autotext to cause the "~" to be entered. I can send a blank message to someone- with no words, numbers or anything and the "~" still shows up. I do not understand why I cannot get rid of it. It is just so odd because everything I have read says you cannot have an auto sig on text messages and here I have one and don't want it. Mama Mia.

I think that I might have to give up on this on.....
