I wanted to let you all know that I too took the plunge and installed 4.5.0.33 on my 8330. I've searched for an hour and its impossible to find the current .45 beta build, but wait!

-None of the ringers work. they are marked as extension aac and if you try to play them in the media application it says they are unsupported media types. Guess a framework didn't make it into this beta.

-SLOW. Answering a call takes 1-2 seconds to answer the call.

-3rd party apps that I had worked as expected including VZNav

-Blackberry freezes every time i connect it to BlackBerry Desktop Manager. USB Disk mode works just fine.

-HTML email works with BES hacked on SP5

-Browser buggy, no improvements over 4.3, had to disable the mouse mode to make it usable at all. The new built in search is nice...

-I stream Sirius through Orb. Once I get it streaming I like to do other things on my phone. On 4.5, switching out of browser ends the streaming and I loose my Sat Radio...last straw! Back to 4.3 (and I've beta tested everything I own)

Odd. My 8830 is still syncing perfectly with Missing Sync on my MBP. The only issue I'm having with PC connectivity is that USB Mass Storage Mode isn't being recognized on my Mac, though the MicroSD card seems to mount just fine when connected to XP (though it did install a new driver, oddly enough).

It is just crazy to see all the different issues we are having with the same OS (beta of course) and the same device. I can not get Missing Sync to recognize my device to save my life. Luckily, I use XP via VMWare as well so I am still able to use DM (which works perfectly, BTW).

And, all the problems mkjellman is having, I am not having at all! Although I do agree that it is slow when answering calls. But, I love the mouse feature and it works perfectly..... all very weird!

Supposedly 4.5.0.45 release 65 addresses most (or all) of these problems. Just difficult to find at the moment, but apparently it's around (don't ask me, I can't find it either).

I see you are discussing the 8330. Have you heard anything new regarding the 8830? I am ready to try the next beta.

I hope so, I am ready to downgrade.. the hitting the trackball and it selecting what was already highlighted when waking it up is a pain in the arse. Not to mention when I get 100+ emails I have to delete them one by one :(#$^@#

I saw over on crackberry.com that someone posted a screen of their sprint curve with a button "download upgrade" for the upgrade to 4.5. Do you think sprint will push the upgrade?

RIM is working on that type of functionality but I'm not sure if it is that close to being ready for prime-time (at least, in time for 4.5). Would be interesting though.

OTA Software Upgrade will be coming. It is a feature supported by BES 4.1.5, and will eventually be offered by the carriers as well. OS 4.5 does support it but it must be enabled by RIM at the NOC level first.

I had to downgrade too - my phone stopped connecting after dialing out (so reminiscent of windows mobile !) and I was unable to hear the other person even though I was connected. I don't know if this was the beta acting up or a memory issue but nothing seemed to resolve it except a battery pull EVERYTIME I had to make a call

back to 4.2 and that issue is gone. I too am eager to get the snappier, better looking OS back....any idea when big red plans on releasing the 4.5os to us lesser beings?

I've been quite happy with 4.5.0.33 so far . . . . No issues with SMS, and once I messed around a bit with different themes (A few seem quite unstable) it's runing great.

Having said that, I'd love to take the latest for a spin as soon as I can locate it

Default 4.5.0.33 on vzw 8830

I have been using this os for about a week and will use till a new one shows up. What I have notice a couple of times is the phone just turns off. On bt I can not hear the call when I answer.
But I really like the 8gb media player with the new functions, it play real smooth too. No skips and loads alot better than flipside did. Much much better and less memory used too.
I have e-mail alerts for a cabin that I rent and the sound will not work. But I get the bb regular alert even though it is not as loud. The indicator light still will blink red and green. I called e-mobile, but from what i read here its the beta. Love the new browser and it seems pretty perky for my limited service location. The new version 2.5 of berry tunes works good and allows bt too now for 8830. Will be looking for next upgrade. Thanks for all the good comment and info. PS Is that really John Clarks face. I get a kick out of watching that goof.

It's seems pretty obvious that our buddies over in Waterloo have batten down the hatches when it comes to leaks! Their legal dept is workin' overtime.

Oh well, I still haven't tried any of the betas. I just can't get too excited about HTML email. Hell, I was using mutt until only recently!

Yes. I have not seen anything other than the .33 for us 8830 users.

4.5.0.51 is amazingly stable. Fixes almost all problems with .33 I have only found 2 problems with this new build. May only be 1 or 2 more releases before a final version is released.
