hey guys,
Im new to blackberry and just recently gotten a phone from a friend of mine. I did a memory wipe and everything was fine kept all teh old application i had. One thing i noticed though my BBmap is gone or i dont see it on my main aplication menu screen. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it with blackberry desktop program and still cant find it anywhere. The software will tell me its installed under application and stil not there and Ive opened every folder in my application adn download folders and everything else and no sigh of BBmaps. PLease Help

Some carriers will hide it to try to force you to use their own paid for version - especially Verizon and AT&T. Mac sure that it isn't in some obscure folder, or the applications or download folder, or just hidden.

I highly recommend Google Maps however as I think it is better than BB Maps and uses cell tower data and triangulation to locate you until the GPS locks on.

Well what happen is I had it before until I wiped it and now I don't see it even if I already installed it. Now google map doesn't work though unless you have data plan right? I remember using bbmap without wifi or dataplan.

BBMaps will not work without a data plan either

I see, is there any maps that doesnt need data plan or maybe an app where i can get directions through wifi then somehow copy and paste on memo pad for later use? If there is it wll be sufficient for now. Ty so far for replies btw! much appreciated.

Check the yellow sticky at the top of the GPS and Maps section.

There might be a couple that you can purchase, Garmin has one that comes to mind. Not sure if there are any free ones. Most map apps download the map sections as you move and need them and are not stored on the device. The Garmin app has the maps on the SD from what I recall.
