Default Removing ATT junk links/apps

Please Login to Remove!

I just got my first BB, a 9700. I'm on ATT and the thing is loaded with "get myspace" "get some weather app" "get mobile banking" "att mall" and all sorts of assorted junk I'd just as soon not have taking up space. They do not show up in the desktop manager, they don't show up in the device application list either. How can I get rid of this annoying junk?

Not easily. If you delete the corresponding Service Books they will just come back.

Simplest to just create a folder on your homescreen and name it junk. Now move those pushed shortcut icons to that folder. Then scroll to that junk folder without opening it and press Menu > hide.

Or - what I do, is simply hide all of those junk links. It amounts to the same thing, except that they end up hidden on the desktop instead of a folder hidden on the desktop. Since I'm on a BES, whenever I re-install a new OS, they automatically re-hide themselves once the Enterprise activation is complete

Well that's disappointing.
Its a new bb and I've only got ~117 ram available. I was hoping to free more up by deleting some unnecessary junk.

117 meg is really quite a bit for a BB. Also, those are just service books, not apps. You aren't getting a lot of ram back by deleting the service books as they are pretty small. There are other ways to get more memory back by using apps like MaxMem or by loading the OS and removing unused functionality with a tool like CrackMem.

But really, 117 meg is a great deal of memory available to load more apps.

All of the shortcuts ATT pushed, all together, probably don't total 50kb.

And, as was said, 117 is a great deal.

Well, after upgrading to OS .545 I was happy to see that I had over 125mb free just from the update. Try that and follow the suggestions to "hide" the junk icons. Hopefully you will be happy after that.

Is that an official release?

What about all the sample pictures and videos that came installed on this thing? The pics are locked, and this 4mb video I've deleted but it keeps coming back. Any way to permanently get rid them?
