I'm running the older BES 4.1.4 software. I've got a 9810 that I recently "switched" with DM from a 9800. I've got random reboots and poor battery performance. I'm being told that my DM activity probably put apps on my 9810 which are contributing to the problems.
What Im wondering is what settings does BES preserve and possibly restore on an activation that could cause me probelms? BES doesn't backup apps does it?
I'm thinking about doing a wipe on y 9810 and putting one of the 7.1 builds on the phone. Then I'd do an BES activation. Will I get anything from my old BB that I need to be concerned by?
Will I get my wifi profiles back? This is something that I want.
As you are running a rather old BES version, I don't know exactly what you get back, but with BES 5.0, you will get WiFi profiles and almost everything back. You will not get your apps and multimedia files, they are not backed up over the air.
If you need that back as well, you will have to do a DM backup or a DM device switch.
Uprading the device OS with the Loader or DM will also do a backup beforehand.
