OK will some of you that understand 2G and 3G explain the reason that this happened when I switched to a Motorola QH which is 3G, I could get good reception at my office. I am still using my AT&T 2G BB and I break up during conversations. I am also using the Verizon BB and it works fine where I am. With the AT&T Moto 3g it worked fine. So will I or won't I have better luck with 3G BB? I sure hope so, I want to be able to go all AT&T so that I can use it with family and employees etc. Please help me understand.

3G, 2G, EVDO, EDGE, GPRS... irrelevant to your issue.
They're all data technologies and aren't used for phone calls.

If you're dropping calls, it's because of the voice network.
Nothing to do with 2G or 3G.

There is also no AT&T BlackBerry with 3G support... so you couldn't even get one if you wanted to.

When they are packetized and sent over the network, phone calls become data.

There is a difference between at&t's 2g and 3g networks. Both in coverage and in the voice codecs used to compress voice into data.

It is unusual to find a place that has strong 3g coverage and poor 2g. As at&t usually deploys them on the same cell sites. But I suppose it is possible.

One way to test this would be to disable 3g on the q9h and use it on the 2g network. If you have problems similar to those you are having with the BB then you can start looking at the network as the culprit.

Once a 3g BB is available on AT&T it will use the same network the q9h is accessing now, if that works better for you so will a 3g BB.
