Should be tomorrow, from what I've heard. Not sure on their plans post-injunction delay, though.

I can't find anything in hear about wav file suppport, to listen to VOIP voicemail attachments. Was this dropped? Some threads in the past had mentioned that 4.1 would have this.

It was supposed to have it, but like you, I was unable to find a mentioning of it in the Attachment documentation. Would be interesting if they didn't have support. I was thinking it was simply an oversight on their part, which wouldn't be necessarily unusual.

When 4.1 is released, how is it distributed? Does one need a t-support contract? The reason I ask, our support runs out the end of this month. We have never called t-support even once. Just looking to see if its worth while to extend our support contract.

Does anyone know if there is a list of BENEFITS that I can review. Im trying to understand what I get when upgrading to 4.1 from lets say 4.0?

I guess Im looking for a list of improvements and/or added features and/or bug fixes.

Thanks,

Mayor111

You can get it for free through your TSupport contract (Tx1 or above), or you can get it through a one-time upgrade fee w/o a TSupport contract. I would assume that BES 4.1 will be released prior to the end of the month (was supposed to be out yesterday).

Thanks.

My t support contract was the free 6-months (Tx0) that came with BES 4.0, it ends March 27th. So this means I will most likely have to pay for the 4.1 upgrade or upgrade/renew my t-support contract?

Tx0 does not include software assurance, so you'd either need to purchase a support contract or the one-time upgrade - depending on your deployment, Tx1 could be the cheaper route...

They just released SP4 for 4.0. Now 4.1? Why didn't they just release 4.1?

They will still support 4.0 with service pack releases for those who do not wish to upgrade to 4.1. That would be like Microsoft to stop supporting Windows 2000 and its various flavors just because Windows XP and Windows 2003 were released.

Looks like it'll be available next week...

"Research In Motion Ltd will next week announce release 4.1 of its BlackBerry Enterprise Server that, despite sounding like a mere feature release, includes significant enhancements, including the ability to use web services to develop applications and support for instant messaging."

Question wav attachments

Has anyone heard if BES 4.1 will support wav attachments? I have notice that there is a wav distiller on the attachment server tab of the BES config tool, but have yet to get a wav file to play. I read in a thread here with posts of sucessfully playing wav files on an 8700. I have tried to get an 8700 & 7105t both running 4.1 OS to no avail.

Its supposed to, but nothing has been mentioned within the 4.1 documentation under the supported file types (it was excluded from it). Not sure if that means no support, or what. The requirement behind WAV file support and the appropriate sample rate is about 4x more than what a Cisco voicemail system would be at (8khz vs 32khz, I believe). They should address and fix the minimum sample rate support imo.
