Default Help - Added New Exchange 2003

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I just added a new Exchange 2003 Server to our Exchange site and I moved a couple of mailboxes over. Now these mailboxes do not sync with the BES. I checked the permissions and all look okay. Anything else I overlooked when adding a new Exchange server. Is there anything I need to do on the BES? I checked the BESAdmin account and it has permissions to new Exch server.

So you have one BES monitoring two exchange servers? How is that possible? Isn't the MAPI profile on your BES server pointing to the first Exchange server? How is supposed to see the new Exchange Server?

That's my question....I have the BES setup fine with our original Exchange 2000 server. Now, for load-balancing purposes, we added another Exchange server (2003) and some of the users on this new server are also BES users. Is there or how do I make BES see users on both servers?

That's the problem. I personally don't see how you can make BES see users on two different exchange servers. The MAPI profile only gives you the option to point to a single Exchange server.

Even though the Exchange servers are in the same site?

The MAPI Profile is not relevant to the ability to connect to multiple Exchange Servers. Just like in Outlook you could add an additional Mailbox, from another Exchange Server, to your MAPI Profile and be able to see both mailboxes (provided permissions are correct).

Have you used the IEMSTest utility to verify the Permissions the BESAdmin account has to those mailboxes?
Have you restarted the BES Service?
What is the status of the users?

I am getting the unable to create folder. What permissions does the account need to have? This is the 3rd exchange server can mailboxes on the first 2 are working fine.

What would be nice is a technical doc or kb article on how to setup BES with multiple Exchange servers.

the installation instructions should apply to multiple exchange servers, provided they are all in the same exchange organization. if you have multiple exchange orgs, then thats why there's no KB on it - its not supported.

setting up a BES to use multiple exchange servers should be as simple as applying the correct permissions to the exchange environment and its member servers that BlackBerry users would live on. its not rocket science.

intoran, please refer to the installation guide for the permissions. its there in black and white what permissions the BES service account needs on the exchange servers.
