Also while we're on the topic, I've noticed that YouTube videos tend to stop while buffering a lot. Is there any setting to let it buffer a larger amount of data so I don't have to watch the video pause every 5 seconds?

I can use youtube fine with the default browser. The only problem I get, is that the video seems to lag behind the sound almost every time.

i'm interested in this topic too. i never could get youtube videos to play. coincidentally, a colleague told me he succeeded by turning off at&t's mobile network and using only a wi-fi connection. when i did the same, i still failed on the wifi connection: "Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's flash player." i checked options and Javascript is enabled. also, when i clicked "Get the latest Flash player" i have repeatedly failed with some message like "too large." any thoughts or suggestions? thx

i can use the youtube- sometimes.
When it does not work I also get that little red message at the top right
When it does work on EDGE it does buffer about ever quarter- depending on length, and sound. The sound is fine. I do believe that youtube takes down the quality when you are using the mobile version of the site, so quality will suffer.
When it does work on Wifi it does not buffer as much or at all- sound is fine. Still quality suffers because of the youtube mobile version site.

If you go straight to youtube it will auto detect that you are on mobile device- if it is tiled to the left, you are on the mobile site.

hmm, i see nothing to the left that i would characterize as "tiled". there is a narrow vertical line on the left within about the bottom third of the far left side of the screen

I only can view youtube videos if I my BB is in WiFi. If it is on 3G or EDGE I can not watch the videos.

same here (wi-fi only, if at all). at one point changing from Firefox to Internet Explorer seemed to make a difference and make videos, but not for long. receiving earlier reported error messages again. it's like youtube somehow overwhelms and/or confuses my bold, except for occasional lucid intervals. (of course, maybe it's just me who's confused.) it was fun while a few videos played (media player and all). will be a shame if i can't figure out how to make them play more reliably because i can't keep spending time troubleshooting something over my head (which in my case isn't saying much unfortunately).
"Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player/" i am beginning to believe both alternatives are incorrect and a waste of this bold user's time (sigh).

I found that you-tube is very os dependant.
The lower versions including .162 didn't do it very well.
The .185+ seem to do a better job of it.
There is also a setting in options, general properties, uncheck the box marked switch to wap for steaming media.

thx. my options/about still shows stock v4.6.0.167. i've hesitated getting help for an upgrade because of various issues reported with higher versions (eg thumbnails no longer working?). i wonder if, like me, the others reporting continuing youtube video viewing problems also have at&t stock ...167 OS. if those people could so advise, and others who have upgraded could report whether they perceived any youtube video viewing improvements as a consequence (of moving to specific higher OS) could also weigh in, maybe there could be some good group learning. i know i would in any event be grateful. thx to all and happy new year

sorry if this is a dumb question, but can you tell me where i would make such a change? i rooted around some in device options, advanced options, and phone options, and i failed to find a place where i might make the change you have suggested. thx
PS, here's a link asserting some sort of (as yet unsupported) "client" may be needed for bold to play youtube videos. (of course, i understand many people, unlike me, have no problem...)
