No I was talking about Davalos and the way he fixed it..lol.. But I think I fixed it too. I did some tweaking of settings and some investigating on the internet and see that somehow I was in some SMS messaging site. Well long story short, I emailed them and told them to remove me and TA DA so far no more messages in four days!!

You know what? I didn't even ask. I was so ecstatic to get someone who knew what the Frick she was doing, I completely didn't pat attention! I know at one point they disabled the ISP functions (remember, I'm an i88 guy ... and I realize disabling the ISP on a Blackberry is like taking the motor out of a Ferrari). You know what? I will call tomorrow and ask them. I have had my 1st day of silence in WEEKS, so whatever Cassie did, it worked. I will ask them specifically what was done (I'm sure they noted the account this time), and I'll report back here. I just am not sure it'll be applicable to Blackberry users ...

I have been receiving the same type of SMS messages on a daily basis, but rather than advertising Nextel Wallet, they are for SMS.ac registration. When I put the link into a browser, it actually redirected the browser to Nextel's site, on what I'm assuming is a page meant for rendering in the BB client.

I contacted Nextel via EMAIL with info on this unsolicited message (the 4 people I spoke with from Nextel customer support knew NOTHING about it) and was given a solution (at last!)

They told me to call M-Qube at 1-866-626-2823, where I could have my number removed from their records. So I called them, told them the ad was for SMS.ac, gave them my number, and they said the removal would be complete within 4 business days.

I'll post back to this thread if things don't go as I'm expecting them to...

Yeah, I got those SMS.ac ones also along with the originals too. BAALEXANDEr, have you signed up for any SMS messaging on the internet or through any of your IMs? This was the site I found out I was on, and I believe it was something I had used a few years back with my I90: http://www.sms.ac/HomePage/Default.aspx Hence the first par tof that addy... (SMS.AC)..... Check into it, you might have been added on someone elses list and didn't know.

I've not signed up for any SMS services myself, and I've only had this number for about a week now. In the past I have received an invite for some type of SMS service via my Hotmail account (one of my friends apparently had some ad/spyware that did some auto-emailing to MSN Messenger buddies) but I'm not sure if it's the same gig.

I don't know much about SMS messages, but the ones that I have been receiving have no reply number/address. I guess it's conceivable that they are being routed through my MSN Messenger account because I have updated the phone number under my MSN profile. Maybe this ad/spyware that my friend got is hijacking the offline message feature in that manner?

Talking Odd Spam Text Message

JD, I had the same trouble with the nmqube. blah blah blah message. Today I called nextel and they stated there was nothing they can do. I did alittle investigating of my own and got this number from a company that said they get mistaken for them all the time. 866-626-2823.

When I called it the company stated that if you send text messages this company automatically picks your number up and basically subscribes you to services from there providers. Without your consent.

They asked for my e-mail address and sent me the following message:

Dear User:

We have received your request and have opened a tracking ticket.

We will review during regular business hours.

Thank you,

m-Qube Support
00020690
m-Qube Customer Care <customersupport@m-qube.com>

Since I called them the text messages have stopped. Hope this is helpful.

Thanks Cuddly...BTW cool name just moved from hawaii...I fixed all my problems with that one site I listed above. I see more and more SMS messenger services are getting people's numbers. Does anyone think that this is some sort of SPAM for SMS/Text messaging? Everyone is trying to make a buck off something I guess.

well i dont know if its a spam or a scam! they had a account for me at the smc site that i "had registered" with...well turns out it was the same sign name and password i had used to set up a online account with nextel. hmm sound fishy to you? yeah yeah people are saying i use that same s/n and password all the time. nope i dont...oh plus i got charged .15 per text message and i was getting 4 a day and they seemed to just keep gettin more and more. scam? you be the judge. but since i deleted my account from one of the above sites i stopped getting them. oh by the way mine was on a i730 not a BB.

Just an update:

Since unsubscribing through M-Qube, I have NOT received any more of these messages. Still uncertain how I got in their list to begin with (previous "owner" of this phone number?) So AFAIK it works!
