Default Dropped my BB in the snow...

Please Login to Remove!

Earlier today I dropped my Bold in the snow. I remember that it stuck in the snow upside down from the top of the phone to the end of the screen. Plus it was still on after I picked it up, so I didn't think of the horrific outcome that would have caused. So since I didn't remove the battery, I believe the entire thing may have short circuited. The only thing is, is that (I know your not supposed to) but when I put the battery in, the camera flash stays on but the phone doesn't respond at all. Is that normal for a short circuit or what? I haven't been able to find anything on that. So what I am asking, is the camera flash a sign for a possible revival? Any advice would be great!

Thank you. After reading that. I looked at my battery "wet" indicator and the "wet" indicator in the phone (i guess thats what those white things are) and they are both solid white. So I guess they are fine? If so, what else could be the problem?

i heard someone mention few weeks back that you should remove the battery and put the device and the battery in a bowl of rice for a week.
i don't know if it's effective (sound effective, using the rice to draw the moist), but it sound like something no one would make up...

Your phone is very likely water damaged based on the incident and symptoms you mentioned. There's no typical symptom for a short other than non-standard behavior.

The indicators being white is likely due to your phone falling into snow and not water. Snow could easily have gotten into the phone and melted, while the battery compartment remained dry.

The only thing you can do is try to completely dry it out before putting the battery back in. The damage is done when power is on when it is wet so being impatient and testing it occasionally is a bad idea.

It might be broken. You might be able to get it replace just tell your service provider that the hardware is bad because the water marker is still white. lol

Thanks for the replies. But I ended up upgrading to a Bold 9700 when I went. I'm loving it so far.
