I bought a supposedly unlocked bb9000 from ebay and received it yesterday. When I plugged in sim it didnt work so I decided to call at&t to get mep code. i gave the representative my mei or iem/9whatever its called) number and she stated that the phone cannot be unlocked because their is no mep code and that she doesnt think that it can ever be unlocked because there was no date for when an mep code would be available for the phone. i know other ppl have done the same thing and gotten an mep code who have bb9000 though. is she just a representative who doesnt know what she's doing or is this because blackberry will no longer be selling bold9000? but even then they will still support the network so there should be an available mep code, correct?

Either she was wrong, or the phone was "unlocked" using a wrong code 10 times and is now permanently locked to the original network. In which case the ebay description was wrong.

Lots of things wrong with this post.

1. Just because the SIM card "didn't work" doesn't mean that the device isn't unlocked. When you go to Options > Advanced Options > SIM Card and type in MEPD, what does it read next to Network?

2. If you do not meet the requirements of AT&T (typically being a customer in good standing for the specified period of time among others), they won't (are not obligated to) give you the unlock code anyway.

Save youself a lot of time. use a vendor on this site for the code. Horizon is one and I have used them without any issues.

Agreed with others, buying a BlackBerry off eBay does not constitute your right to get a free unlock from ATT. It doesn't work that way.
