Has anyone heard anything more about this 'BlackBerry Professional Software'?

Aside from the nice advantage of being able to run on the email server, I'm curious to know the motivation of using it instead of BES Express.

It's supported on an exchange server because of its max user limit of 30 users. It was supposed to be really easy to install using wizards and it scans your system and uses default config etc. It doesn't really do that at all. It's pretty much a cut-down version of the straight BES 4.1.4 installer you get with Express (the "scan your system part" is just that screen where it checks how much ram you have, your processor speed, whether you have J2RE installed, XML parser, SNMP etc..), without the option for MDS (system, not service) so no app development should you want it.

There are a couple of nice things about it, such as a few pre-configured IT policies, and adding users is easy via a wizard giving you the option of either Wireless EA, Desktop Manager or provisioning via USB on BES, and then gets you to assign an IT policy etc, so it does all the thinking for you in that sense.

I just don't like the idea of running something on the Exchange server.
