Default WiFi and Blackberry 8520

Could my cell provider switch off WiFi on my device by IT policy? I mean to say there must be WiFi on it but actually there is not.

I like the Decal Girl skins, but I find with the track pad it raises the surface to a point where it almost catches. Careful positioning has made this pretty much unnoticable to me now.

Hope you like the new device!

You seem to be the one that might provide me the information I'm requesting...I was looking to take advantage of my carrier upgrade and just discovered the Blackberry Trackpad. A store rep at -what I believe was- a radio shack gave me some interesting input, (how the phone can call an existing "trackpad" model with out a signal) but my question was whether it came out of the box running something greater than a 4.3os. I really don't want to fall into a downgrade...please help

8530 was launched with 5.0, my 8520 came with 4.6

What the heck is he talking about? How can only trackpad models secretly talk to each other? Can you explain further?

Thanks for your input! I was originally looking for a Blackberry accesory and the rep. introduced me to this new "trackpad" phone. I'm uncertain of whether it has anything to do with "Blackberry outages", but the rep. explained to me that anyone with the "trackpad" model can place calls to anyone else that was sporting the "trackpad" if they are without a signal (I'm guessing that it's able to happen due to the fact of the cellular emergency radio signal). I don't know of any further features that come with two persons carrying the Blackberry with the trackpad... I'm guessing I'm in for a trackpad cdma model with at least 4.6, a kiss to you noodles...

I've never heard that before. I hope someone else here can shed some light on that.

The new phones haven't been the cause of the outages, I think one was due to a bbm update.

Well I wasn't saying due to new phones, just through unneccessary outages these phones could have quite possibly been introduced; that might be why the rep. had that interesting fact to reveal to me.

Why does the keypad backlight not stay lit while i'm texting on my 8530? I know that the backlight sensor controls the backlight, but i would like it to stay lit while texting.

Hey guys, my wife got both of us the new 8530 with Sprint survice and I'm second guessing her purchase. Coming from a Rumor1 and Rumor2 I do not like the keyboard setup and I'm having issues typing. Also I do not like the quality of the screen when viewing a Youtube view. I'm assuming this phone isn't for everyone and I'm wondering what might be available through BB thats more browser friendly/interent surfing/forum texting and easier to type? Thanks in advanced guys.

If all you are looking for is browsing the web and internet surfing than a regular "webphone" might be better suited to your needs, as most carriers have cheap unlimited web browsing (I am on Bell Canada and I had unlimited web browsing on my Samsung Reclaim for less than the 500MB data plan on BB). BBs are great for business, communication with other BBs, apps, and email. But if you are simply looking for quality of vids while surfing the web, a BB might not be your best choice.

Why are so many people hung up on the camera? You would think that was the main feature of the phone by some reactions. Hell I would prefer if it didn't have one at all... pictures are why god invented point and shoots...

Well from reading this post it sounds like a made decision to order the phone. I just ordered the 8530 last night, and I can't wait until it gets here.

I love this phone so far! This is my first BB. My wife and I got the 2 for 1 deal at Sprint. We were with Verizon and decided to change to Sprint due to better and cheaper plans with Sprint....Anyway; I got the red 8530. Though I am disappointed in the lack of flash for the camera...thats not a big deal. A flash and a few more mega pixels wasnt a big deal enough to spend more money for the Tour.
