Default Desktop Media Sync converts AAC to mp3?

Please Login to Remove!

I have a ton of music that I have in 320 AAC, in itunes, but when I look at it on my 9700, it shows up as mp3. Is desktop manager converting my files?

Also, all of these AAC files are not showing up properly, with artist album etc. Just the file name itself shows. Is there a fix for that?

You have a DRM issue or a restriction on some files.

No DRM issue. All music was ripped from CD.

Anyway, I think I've fixed the issue. I reformatted the card, which did nothing. Then I tried deleting everything via DM>Device options> media and reloading it. Presto, it worked.

I think DM had a residual copy of the old lower bitrate mp3 version somewhere on my Mac (before I re-ripped) and wanted to keep loading that onto the BB? When I re-ripped, it somehow confused the BB as to how to read the tag, having a residual mp3 version but being told it should be AAC, or something like that.

Once I deleted all media via DM (instead of just formatting the card) those residual copies that DM was using were deleted as well, not just the copies on the SD card.

That's my theory anyway.

In any case, problem solved. Thanks for the reply!

Music company are now imbedding DRM in a lot more songs than they did before. I have ripped a few songs from CDxxx8217;s that were ripped from originals and discovered DRM followed the song even though I thought it was a clean copy. All from purchased CDxxx8217;s .the weird thing is they all copied to a IPod without issue.

Glad you solved your issue.
