I hear that the specs are the same as the 8900.

Similar but not identical. It is not the same form factor. Close. When you hold them side by side there are a few small differences in dimensions.

Anyway, I am patiently awaiting AT&T to release it. It's the BB of all BBs in my opinion. Looks like I will be ditching my iPhone 3GS for the Onyx.

Same specs as the Tour? And same keyboard too? If so, then I plan on stopping into my local Verizon wireless or Sprint store to check it out.

The Onyx is GSM not CDMA.
It wont be on Verizon or Sprint.
T-mobile and At&T are getting it.

I know that. I was just wondering if the form factor and keyboard of the Tour is similar to the Onyx.

Is the keyboard similar to the Tour's? I played with a Tour in the Verizon wireless store today. I liked the form factor, but thought that the keyboard was quite cramped. Is the keyboard of the 9700 similar to the Bold's? I am just trying to get a better "feel" for the 9700.

it's next to the micro usb port, it's hidden (all black) compared to the 8900/etc

Is this a 3G phone (I assume it is)? If so it's got everything except a good 3G network, because ATT's network sucks. I have no idea what Tmob's is like but it can't be any worse.
