Default Curve reboot problem :(

Please Login to Remove!

I just switched over from Verizon and got myself a curve through ATT, I love this thing so far. I put some media on my SD card to test out the music and video. The music works fine, but whenever I try and play a video my BB reboots. Every single time....the video will play for a second or two, but then it will just reboot taking a few minutes each time. Is this a common problem? I haven't been able to find anyone with this problem yet. Please help!

Zap, is it one video, or any you put on there?

Not having heard that issue either, I would be tempted to delete the one, and try another to make sure it is not just the one faulty video.

Good luck, and welcome to the Forums.

Thanks for the welcome.

Sorry, I should have specified, whenever I play any video I put on there it will reboot. Now these videos are full episodes (Family Guy, Robot Chicken Etc..)

I was just gonna return it since I bought it two days ago, but I just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this first, and what they did to fix it.

If you really want to troubleshoot it you can reinstall the operating system, however since it is so recently purchased I can see why you would prefer to simply swap it out for a new unit and be done with it.

Also, did you convert the video, was it in a BB-playable format?
Lots of info over in the Media Section of this forum

Did you use the latest Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2 to convert the video? I would also suggest upgrading the firmware to the latest.

I'm not at my home computer right now to see, but I'm fairly confident that they're AVI files, the video will play for a couple seconds before it reboots. I was looking at the faq and avi files aren't listed under support formats. You think that has something to do with it even though the video will play for a couple seconds?

Zap, did you convert the files?

If you didn't, no, it will crash or not play, in your case, both.

Default Reboot

I think that plain avi is not compatible. Need to convert files with f.e. media studio for blackberry, and the movie will play fine.
