Why, yes, you did....
I went into a little dark hole after creating the
BlackBerry Profile Scheduler. By the way, the Profile Scheduler IS NOT DEAD, more to come so stand by.
Anyway, I emerged from the hole with BBText2IM. Now you can hold a SMS 'conversation' just like a regular Instant Messenting (IM) chat!
Using it is a breeze. First, locate the application icon after you've installed.
You can initiate a 'conversation' by selecting 'Start New Conversation' from the menu.
Then, your address book will appear where you can select a contact, then, if they have multiple numbers, you select a number.
A conversation window then opens with that contact. Then, you simply type in a message, and press the Enter key. Voila! The message is sent to the contact via SMS.
All responses from the contact will appear in the same window. Conversely, one of your contacts can initiate a conversation with you simply by sending you a SMS message. If you don't already have a conversation window open with this user, one is created for you, and you can continue chatting as normal.
The home screen reflects the number of ongoing conversations, how many messages in the conversation, both unread and total.
Closing the conversation is simple too, simply select it from the menu.
It's not beautiful yet, with images and such, but will be over time. Also, I plan to add features like emailing the conversation out of the conversation window, hovering over a conversation entry to see the time sent/received. Just a whole bunch of stuff. I wanted to get this version out the door first.
The full beta should be ready for your enjoyment by the weekend, who wants to give it a spin?
