I received my BSE in the mail this past week but still haven't had time to apply it. Hopefully some time this weekend...

I'd go for the BSE. I placed an order for SZ but cancelled it due to the price. I love the BSE skin.

I have never tried the Best skins ever but this is my second version of the ShieldZone - also used it for my 8700. It covers the sides including the bevels - although the small pieces are tricky to manage. Having had success with it for the 8700, I wasnt about to change even for less money.

So I am fully covered & still fits inside my Seidio clip - even though it rides a little high based on where the swivel is - put one in my car as well & removed the battery so I can face it outward & see the screen.

I use BestSkins and never had a problem. In fact my BB has a nice shine to it. No problem or complaint here.

Default Removing BSE Skin

Just an update in this thread. As said in my thread, I made a warranty return to T-Mo.

Before returning the old phone [if a Sept. 18 received cell phone is old], I cleaned it up, which included removing the BSE skin covering the phone.
[Except for the back/battery cover, which I kept].

Anyway, the BSE skin easily removed as advertised. And there was no cleanup required, no glue, no sticky residue, nothing. I simply shined it up with some Windex.

Shipped back, the Pearl looks shiny new. There was not a mark on the phone. In fact it looked so perfect that I inserted a post-it note inside the battery compartment saying that the phone's speaker was defective. I was concerned that someone at T-Mo might erroneously think the phone should be put into the refurb/redistribute pile.

I bought some BSE skins meant for notebook computers with the intent of cutting them to size for my various unique devices [things other than the Pearl].

Last night I wanted to get a screen protector installed on my new warranty replacement Pearl that I had just received from UPS.

I cut a square for the display, using the my old Pearl BSE skin as a template. [that is, the skin removed from the Pearl I was returning to T-Mo].

I did the install in a hurry, in an emergency basis sort of way. End result, the screen went on real nice. Took all of two minutes.

After I was done I saw a friggin CAT HAIR underneath the skin in the middle of the screen and spanning about 1 inch!

It looked so bad I immediately ripped the skin off the Pearl and scheduled time to carefully apply the BSE skin this weekend. This will give me time to follow install directions, like I did in September when installing the BSE on the old phone.

Would BSE skins work on a touchscreen (fingertip, not stylus). I'm thinking of buying a laptop screen and cutting to use on my Garmin Nuvi gps (and my Canon SD camera while I'm at it!).

I ordered from BestSkinsEver and they never delivered (or it got lost in the mail) by the time I realized it I already had a few scratches on the Pearl and decided it wasn't worth it anymore. =\

I take good care of my devices but even I've dropped my phone a couple of times.

I put the BSE material on my Dell Axim X50V, a PDA I never use anymore.

The touchscreen aspects work fine.

All of you are missing one very important piece of information - the Best Skins Ever are cheap because they are sold as a one time purchase, and the ShieldZONE Invisible Shield skins are guaranteed for life. You pay one price, and get replacement skins whenever you need them, for life. Check out the guarantee on their website under the picture of the Pearl: http://www.shieldzone.com/item_description/BLKBRY8100FB.html

The numbers don't tie out for me. Even with the lifetime guarantee...I've bought 4 blackberries in 4 years which means 4 seperate purchases for SZ at 25 bucks a pop. If the BSE lasts one year...then it will last me till I'm about ready to buy a new BB. Even if BSE only lasts 6 months...I can still get 2 for less than the cost of one from SZ and have change left over. The only way SZ makes sense is if they offer you a new set of skins everytime you get a new BB.

With my current usage here's the dollar breakdown.

If BSE lasts 1 year:
SZ = 4 x 24.95 = $99.80
BSE = 4 x 6.99 = $27.96

If BSE lasts 6 months:
SZ = 4 x 24.95 = $99.80
BSE = 8 x 6.99 = $55.92

If BSE lasts 3 months:
SZ = 4 x 24.95 = $99.80
BSE = 16 x 6.99 = $111.84

In scenario 1, I saved $71.84. In scenario 2, I saved $43.88. As you can see...even if the BSE only last 3 months...I'm still not that much more expensive than SZ....and that is an extreme scenario.

The price for SZ just doesn't make sense with the way technology forces upgrades of blackberries and the lifetime warranty is not that great a feature.

I understand your math, and it does make sense for sure. But some cases work out differently. I had mine on my 8700c for 11 months, and during that time I needed 7 replacement pieces - all due to my inability to hold the damn device in my hand properly when getting in or out of a car, or simply walking in a straight line! I dropped mine several times causing scrapes on the skins, and thankfully not on the device. Each time I needed a new piece they sent me a new one, free. That would have cost me more than the initial $25 I spent on the skins at Shield Zone.

Well yours seems an extremely unusual exception to probably about 99.9% of people. At least for me, if I have one replacement phone in the lifetime that I own a device, that would be unusual. [I have used my past ten phones without incident and replaced them with new models on about 8 months average]. I did have to make a warranty claim on a Pearl that I dropped.

I suspect that that is why they have that guarantee, they know that:

1. Few people will remember that there is a guarantee.

2. Few people keep a device more than about 18 months, so there will be few claims for a skin in the particular skin/devices "lifetime."

3. It's human nature that few people make claims on low priced items. Kind of like those knives on TV. They have a lifetime guarantee because no one remembers how to make a claim, where to send it, etc.

Plus I notice that one still has to pay shipping and handling. That plus postage to them makes it $3.40 to get a new skin. That's about half the price of a BSE skin.

So one is paying $25 for a ShieldZone skin to save $4 in the unlikely event that one makes a claim for a ShieldZone skin within the "lifetime" one is using a particular device and skin.

And this does not even take into account that if I buy three BSE skins for $21 [free shipping on a purchase of that size], I would have two remaining BSE skins to replace on to the Pearl during the "lifetime" that I use it.

Can someone whose gotten a package from Best Skins Ever reply to this thread with a description of the package they came in? I've been waiting for mine since before Christmas and they still haven't come. It says they shipped on 12/22 but I've been looking out for them and I'm checking everything. I want to give my postman a description of the package so he can look out for it. Thanks.
